illustrator for 2d technical illustrations for making 3d mod

Post by pootle roche »

hello.
I am not sure if anybody uses Adobe illustrator,
however, I recently discovered that it is possible to open pages from pdf files in illustrator format (such as pro audio hardware technical illustrations / diagrams etc).
This allows the user to open some pictures as illustrator vector graphics, and edit them.

For diagrams that do not import, they usually open as jpeg or other file formats which can be converted into vector graphics by using the livetrace feature in illustrator.

This may not sound so useful to many, however, if you wish to make accurate 3d models, its ideal.
As 3d apps allow you to import 2d illustrator files, which the user can then manipulate the dimentions to create scale 3d models of their favorite equipment.

Your virtual studio designs could have models of your exact equipment in.
Or you may want to see what your studio would look like with a neve desk and a rack of avalon comp's.....if only....
Cheers
