hi folks,
i´m just moving with my studio so some questions show up.
the new rooms luckyly have been a recording studio before, rarely any right angle
the shape of the control room is very odd, with the biggest wall completely treated with 30cm (or 1').mineral fiber.
height varies from 3,22m (11') to 2,70m (9') where the highest point
is the top corner of the 7,10m (23'8'') wall with a slope towards the 6,95m
(23'2'') wall.
there is a closet that was already used to flush mount speakers before.
that was by my pre-pre-predecessors. so no information here about how well it worked.
i'm thinking about soffit mounting my event asp 8's in there.
they are front ported active speakers, 8''bass driver, flat front, and somewhere in the manual them say
that you "can even mount them in the wall" (though things are much easier to say than to do )
what would be your opinion on my plans.
any help / opinion would be appreciated.
thanks,
denis

dimensions
hi st,
as far as i understand you need a wide area for the soffits,
2 times the diameter of the bass driver on each side of each speaker.
so at 8'' (0,20m) i would need 16'' on each side plus the width of the speaker, in my case 12.5'', sums up to 44.5'' (or 1,12m).
the closet is 0,70m + 1,20m + 0,70m wide, 2,60m total so the resulting
spacing from cone to cone would be about 1,5m (or 5').
Is or is not this too narrow? I got a 2,60m wide console and my tft that go between me and the closet/wall.
Or is my calculation wrong ?
the second option would be to leave the speakers on their stands and make a BIG basstrap out of the closet. (from 0,64m to 0,80m deep).
