Quad Mic cable.

Is this the best type cable for recording?

If so how do you solder the ends on?
there are 4 wires.

Thanks,

Quad cable has some of the best EMF/RFI rejection specs, but at the cost of some high frequency loss over distance. Wiring quad cable is as simple as pairing (joining) the like colors... eg. with Canare star quad, the two white wires are joined together and the two blue wires are joined together.

my longest run will be about 40' from CR to wall panel.
Should I use quad or regular?

Thanks.

That would depend on your location... if you are in downtown Manhattan for instance, you would probably wire everything with quad. If you are in a rural setting, you could use standard single pair Mogami or Canare with great success. If you NEED the noise rejection, go with quad... if not, save some money.

You may want to update your profile to include your location...

OOps, sorry, just noticed "Bahamas"... use regular cable... easier and less expensive.
