Would that work for the sealant between layers for walls, floors and ceilings?

what other ones work, I didn't see any at lowes today that specifically advertised working well for acoustics.

USG Acoustic Sealant.

I have e-mailed USG 5 times at 2 different addresses to find out where to purchase it, but they must not like me since I have yet to get a reply in the past 3 months.

Keith, since you must have missed my request for all members to update their profiles with at least a general area of the world, preferably a city, I don't know where you are - makes it kind of hard to suggest things that may have you driving cross-country...

Carl, Keith - this is one of the areas we still need some better resources on. USG in particular, Owens Corning also, don't seem to be at ALL interested in individuals, only contractors. The only way I know of around this is to find a LOCAL contractor that deals in drywall/insulation, and work up a good relationship so they will order this stuff FOR you. It generally takes some "schmoozing", and some builders are just assholes or buried too far to want to do anything that's not very profitable, so it's not easy.

For New York, I started with the Thomas register online - here's the results of a search I did on "acoustic sealant" - using the word caulk doesn't seem to get anywhere at all. (Wow - two whole companies showed up - can you say "underwhelming"?)

I keep trying to find a better way to get this stuff, but it keeps eluding me - if nothing else, acoustical solutions sells it for $7.50 a tube

which is still no worse than paying $2.50 a tube for the regular size at Lowes or Home depot, and that stuff isn't going to work for more than 6 months or so... Steve
