JBL 4312 Suitable for soffit mounting ?

Post by nymo »

Hi there,

Just wanted to know whether a JBL 4412 was suitable for soffit mounting ?

It is a 3 way passive speaker with a 12 inch bass and 5 inch mid and 1 1/4in tweeter.

Would there be too much bass coming from this....or would i be better off flying them ??

Cheers

it should be fine depending on the soffit size (should be 3-4x the diameter of the woofer - knightfly posted the calc). depending on what option you have for crossover, you might need to biud a crossover to perform the bass compensation (barefoot has explanation posted on the site).

How big's your CR? Just about any speaker can benefit from PROPER soffit mounting (solid construction, flush baffles, large enough baffle extensions, reasonably sized speakers for room volume - but it's also possible to overpower a room... Steve
Soooo, when a Musician dies, do they hear the white noise at the end of the tunnel??!? Hmmmm...
