bass trap wood choices?

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

bass trap wood choices?

Post by Ronan »

I am going to try and build a couple of corner bass trap/diffusers based on the John Sayers designs on this site.

Is there are ideal type of wood that would be a best choice to use for the enclosuer and the front slats?

The enclosure part is specified in the drawings - 1" MDF - if you can find it, pay extra for MDF that uses no formaldehydes - less outgassing, much healthier.

For the parts that show, it's a matter mostly of personal preference. Main thing is tight, glue and screw construction and choosing dimensions according to the Helmholz calculator on the SAE site... Steve
