I'm installing my kit based around an Allen and Heath GS3000
I have a load of looms from a previous studio I used to have 8 years ago, I've tested them and repaired any faulty ones, but my question is this - does it matter if they are all balanced? (pretty much all of them are balanced)
In what instances would I need unbalanced looms?
I have a loom with stereo jacks on one end and mono jacks on the other end - any idea what this should be used for?
To give you an idea I've put a list together of the outboard , fx and desk - some is from the old place, some is new
Desk
Allen and Heath GS3000
FX
Lexicon MPX100
Ensoniq D/P Pro
Zoom 1201
Outboard
Amek Purepath DMCL
CLM DB400
CLM Expounder
TLA 5021 Ivory Valve compressor
Behringer Composer Pro compressor
There is also a MOTU 828 mk2 in the equation
Thanks for your help, and sorry for sounding like a novice but I've never carried out a full installation myself before and its a bit daunting to say the least.

I found a user manual for the GS3000. http://www.allen-heath.co.uk/veterans/d ... _guide.pdf
Around page 9 it shows the pinout connections.
