Hi.
I'm planning on purchasing some budget studio monitors, and have narrowed my choice down to these two.
So, I'm calling all you owners/regular users of these monitors! I'm after your opinions on how accurate they are, and their general characteristics. Also, if you have compared the two before, then your opinions on their difference in sound/performance.
Thanks,

I'm in the same boat. Still haven't gotten a chance to hear either of them but I think I'm going to be able to rule out the KRK's based on the fact that they have neodymium tweeters. I find metallic tweeters cause my ears to fatigue quickly; silk dome tweeters (this is what the Event has) are more comfortable for me to listen to. Not everyone feels that way of course.

I think you'll win whichever ones you go for. I ended up going for the KRK RP8's, but I chose them deaf, since I hadn't heard either of the two. I'm not disappointed with them, and I'm sure if I had gone down the Event TR8 route, I wouldn't be disappointed either.
Don't expect, for example, Mackie or Genelec quality standards from either of these two by any means. But, for the money, you do get a really good speaker.
All I can say is, make sure your room is good, that's the most important thing. If your monitoring position is right in a null, you won't benefit to anywhere near what either of the two speakers are capable of.
