Monitor RF interference

Hi! It sounds like several of you have already put significant effort into some effective but time consuming & expensive solutions. May I suggest you try a simple solution that might save money & effort? I live in NYC with one of the highest levels of RFI anywhere yet I have no RFI problems at all.

Often RFI and ground problems are more similar than people realize. If the powered monitors stop playing RFI when their audio connections are disconnected but resume when reconnected a ground loop could be compromising your RFI resistance. Rearranging your power cords into a star configuration will easily take care of most ground loops and therefore many RFI problems as well. Simply plug all power strips & gear into one outlet - in a fan or star like pattern. Power strips can be plugged into each other in a branching pattern as needed. As long as this doesn't exceed your AC lines electrical rating you may find yourself in a studio without any RFI at all (like me) without spending a dime!

Hello all, I'm new to the board. Whenever I have had RFI that seems to be immune to STD fixes it is usually in the ground. Most active circuits are designed not to detect RF but the grounds are naked and ubiquitous. This has included huge loops in the building with impedence at various connections all the way down to ground loops in the affected device's PC board layout. Worst case was a bass amp that had 4 loops on its preamp pc board (Sunn SB200).
