I can pick up a used pair of these Event ASP8's for $850 which is a pretty good deal. (As far as I can see based on ebay) I will hear these at some point but I was hoping to get as much info as possible about these.
If anyone out their hates them, absolutely loves them, likes them but knows better monitors for 800 dollars or similar price range.
The guy at the music store told me that EVENT has sort of fallen down in the monitoring game as far as value and I was wondering if that is true. (he was pushing the m-audio bx8a, ($400-500) ) so I took that with a grain of salt.
Anyway, I'm so new to this I don't even know if I know the right questions to ask, but I do know that anything will be helpful.
Thanks!

Hi macroniche2000!
I've noticed a certain lack of enthusiasm for the Studio Precision 8 Actives in two of the stores I frequent, not verbally but by a certain lack of motivation to set them up with the other speakers for demo. Is there possibly less commission on these monitors than some of the other monitors these stores sell?
They did receive a rave review in Electronic Musician mag 5/04 but I have yet to hear them. I did hear their smaller brothers which sounded balanced and flat to me in a short 1st audition.

Hi man.
I use a pair, and I love em.
Took a while of getting used to though, as I was used to hyped bass and a smoother top from my old well known cheaper monitors!
The low end is so controlled, its completely improved the way i mix.
The top end is quite forward, sometimes i roll off 1dB using the shelf filter. Never the less, its very detailed, articulate and not "hissy" like some other monitors ive tried.
The mid range is absolutly stunning. I find i can hear right into songs now and really isolate the mid frequencies i want. It seems so obvious where the snare drum should be sat against the toms and overheads.
Hope that helps,
oZ
