studio doors

what is the best way to seal studio doors. does anyone have a suggestion. Also, I have double doors. however, instead of being regular solid wood doors, they are 5 panel doors. They are basically solid but where the panels are carved they become quite thin. I am thinking of covering the panels on one side to increase the sound blockage. Any ideas on the best way to do this.

As to the paneled doors, they are, as you suspect, less than ideal. If you can find bulk quantities of Fixall plaster or something similar, you could fill the paneled areas flush with the stiles (the thick parts ) then cover with a layer of gyp board and veneer - this would give enough mass to be workable.

When you say "double doors", do you mean side-by-side for load-in/out ease, or do you mean a sound lock arrangement, or both?

I am trying to find door sealing products in the U.S. If anyone could direct me to agood product to seal some wood doors it would be gratly appreciated. I am currently using Neoprene and I'm looking for something better.

Daniel, thanks a lot for that link - I had seen that before and thought I'd saved it, but it may have gotten lost when I changed laptops last month.

They aren't the cheapest source around on some stuff, but at least you can usually find what you need there... Steve
