to snake or to panel- that is the question

Several hours of internet searching later and I still don't have the answer. Here's my deal... I'm converting my garage into a small studio , and I still don't know the best way to pipe audio back and forth from the live room to the control room. Should I build a wall panel in the live room? Should I buy a snake and permanently install it? How should I hook it up in my control room? (Control room will have an 8-track recorder and a TRS-TRS patch bay)

I have a few free passes into heaven for anyone who answers (I did God a favor once).

What is the space of your live room? What type of setup do you have in your control room? I will need some additional info to really give an idea of what would work best in your scenario. Are you using an analog desk or a DAW system?

Are you building new construction (walls, etc) inside the garage? Or is everything already existing?

The live room is about 10' by 20'. We're using a DAW- specifically a tascam FW1884 (I think), which has 8 mic inputs. Right now we're at a crossroads as to whether or not the equipment desk and racks are going to be be against the wall that's shared with the live room or on the other side of the control room (due to some construction issues). It's new construction inside of a garage- interor walls are new and exterior are being "beefed up".

Probably the easiest then would be to run an 8 pair snake for mic lines directly into your mixer. And since it has inserts, use your patchbay for this for any outboard gear you want to patch in.

You'll probably want to run a conduit so if you decide to upgrade later, or need to pull additional cables, you can.

And I would probably do a wall panel so your not tripping over a stage box.
