insulation

im using roxul afb,3in. insulation for 2x4 framing, my studs are 16 in. from the center of each stud( 15 in. between studs) . therefore, when i put in the 16 inch wide insulation, i have to stuff about an inch in, is this good or should i cut the insulation?

if i have to cut the insulation should i just tear the sides off or is there a better way for a cleaner cut. please help.

I just used some heavy duty scissors to do the job.
