Ideas on construction...

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

I'm going to put as much insulation as I can afford in that gap...along with lots of prayers that the drumming gods let my neighbors live in peace. I'm not really worried about the acoustics of the inner room. I've made incredible recordings in my last house in the dining room. I'm going to search for "cleats" and see what I get. I've got all of December to build that outer layer up.

Cool - I'll try to get some time to do a better detail drawing of this "beef up" idea, but it's probably a good thing you have some time lee-way... Steve

Thanks again...Yeah a drawing would be great...I've seen some drawings elsewhere on this forum that have been very helpful. The electrician is coming in a couple of weeks to redo the box in my garage. They are going to move it to another location and make it ready for whatever final floorplan I decide. Also I've got someone on the task of figuring out how to put up more support for my roof. Even though the new ceiling will be supported by the new walls, I don't want to have anything coming crashing down on top of my room within the room.
