help with the walls

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Hello jeduque,
Drywall is used in most cases, but MDF is very common as well in combination with drywall and possibly, some other materials. In fact, to give the ideal answer to your question, I think the combination of the two would be the best!! Sound "breaks" (is attenuated) easier when going through different materials.
hope this helps
cheers :)
Kind regards

Greetings

I used drywall for my room within a room studio walls. EXCEPT the penultimate layer, which was 18mm MDF.

The main reason for this ( apart from a density difference ), was the ability to be able to screw anythying to the walls, ANYWHERE.

I did the same for the ceiling too :)
