How to build "ceiling clouds"

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

How to build "ceiling clouds"

Post by laptoppop »

I'm starting work on my studio - 10x16.5 feet. The ceiling slopes up along the long dimension from 8 feet to 13.5 feet. I'm planning on putting up clouds of 4" thick fiberglass with hangers above it for absorbtion.

My question - should I hang the clouds with wires from the real ceiling, or would it be OK to use conventional metal grids for suspended ceiling tiles and just use the cloth wrapped fiberglass as real thick ceiling tiles? Seems like the grid would be easier than a bunch of wires...

Thanks,

Yah, doesn't matter. I was thinking about the reflections off the tiny little metal strips from the suspended ceiling -- compared to the surface area of the fiberglass, they won't matter.

Sometimes, I get too hung up on the details. ;)

Thanks!
