How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

i went to marjam today , and they had two door options with double paned window. solid wood. or steel with a hollow interior that was filled with foam. which would be better, since there was no stc rating given?

Best thing to do? Can you get your money back?

Pick up the one you suspect is NOT the best door. Install it (careful not to scratch it). Then test it. Then take it back and trade it in. Test the other one. If you were right, you won't have to do another trade-in. If you were wrong, you make a third trip.

You can hypothesize all day long, but this will answer that particular question the most thoroughly.

(Generally speaking, metal conducts heat and sound more than wood, but with no information, how can you really know?)
