I designed the whole building from the ground up and my plans were submitted to council for approval, which was granted.

I had a structural engineer design the trusses etc.

Happy to inform that after a long break building has recommenced on my studio. I'm concentrating on the control room so am getting to the good bit! Here's a few progress shots.

I'm about to run some cable for power to the main monitors so the boys can finish off the soffit mount area/whole front end, so here's a question for you learned folk; Would one dedicated circuit for the pair of speakers be OK (from a ground loop hum perspective), or run a dedicated circuit for each speaker?
Another minor point that you may be able to shed light on, does the orientation of the acoustic hangers hanging under the soffits and window matter much? i.e. hanging perpendicular to front, diagonal/45 degrees etc.

Do you have another method for powering them off individually? If so, then no problem: out them both on one circuit. But if you will not be able to reach the power switches on the rear panel after they are fully soffit mounted, then I'd go with separate circuits. IT does, to a certain extent. Tom Hidley used to orient all of his hangers towards the speakers (edge-on), but I don't see the need for that, and the ones UNDER the speaker are already edge.on from above anyway! However, if you think of hangers as acting like waveguides (they do), then think about the frequencies they are dealing, and the direction from which the wave fronts will be approaching, that will give you some insight into which way to orient them. I like to have them angled a bit "off" from being edge-on to the wave front, but certainly not straight across it: no more than about 30° or so, to ensure that the waves are actually "guided" into the thick insulation at the rear and sides of the hanger area.

There's also the issue of frequency: the larger the dimensions of the hanger, the lower it goes in treatment. If you angle it, you can make it longer (front to back) than if you have it at 0° or 90°. So the more you angle it, the longer it can be, and therefore the lower it will go.

However, having said all that, since John designed your place, you should check with him on those details. He might have valid reasons for doing things differently- Follow his advice, and the plans he surely gave you, for all of the acoustic stuff. He's the designer, so he knows why he did what for each part of the treatment.
