Mounting Bass trap slats

Post by EricHarrington »

I am using 2 - 5" 3/4" Ipe wood slats with 1/4" gaps in my MDF corner bass trap cabinet and I wanted to know, do I mount them hard, i.e. a hard glue and screw, or do I mount them soft ie. velcrow,. or with Silicone caulk etc. Should it be damped or ridged I guess is the real question.

This forum has been such a help I am blown away. Pics soon to follow.

if you create a frame using two vertical runners for the slats that fit into the cabinet, you hard mount the slats to the runners and then attach as a unit to the cabinet in a few places using some screws.

Thank you. I figured. I actually glued and screwed the runner, (I overbuild everything.)With 3/4" slats at 11" (2 5x5) 5.5" and 3.5" and 1.5" with 1/4" gaps it pretty much cover 60-500! Thanks so much for this incredible resource..
