power amp

recently I picked up a pair of JBL eon 1500s and using them with a Yamaha powered mixer and it seems like the speakers do not seem to have a rich, loud PA punch...they seem like they are not as loud as I expected...I assume it is the powered mixer that is not feeding the speakers the wattage needed to get the best possible sound....can someone please recommend a great power amp that will bring out the Volume and also be compatible to these JBL Eon 1500s.... I assume if I use them with a regular unpowered mixer, then all I have to do is upgrade the power amp....please let me know what you think so I can get the best sound needed for my band's live PA setup.....
currently, these speakers seem to need that extra kick in wattage to bring out a full tone in vocal and microphone ranges...thnx
