Small drum room carpet or not and thickness of isolations

How thick should my walls be, should I float my floors (and if so, how), why is two leaf mass-air-mass design important, etc.

Small drum room carpet or not and thickness of isolations

Post by Mishabou »

Hi all,

I'm in the midst of adding Acoustic Treatment to my drum room is 16' (L) x 11' (W) x 7'8'' (H). At the moment it has a carpet, will it help if i replace it with a wooden floor ?

I intend to bass trap the corners and install on the side, front/back walls and ceiling (above the drums) 2'x4' Owen Cornings 703 panels. Should i go for 4'' or 6'' deep ?

Lastly, i might be able to raise the ceiling by another 8 to 10 inches, but that means tearing everything down and rebuilt, would it make a big difference considering the costs.
