Ray Tracing In SketchUp Tutorial Video

Post by Gregwor »

I threw together a short YouTube video showing how I ray trace in SketchUp. Vertical plane tracing is done in the same manner. I hope this helps!

Hey thanks Greg, that's a very well made, very clear instructional video.

I'm okay at doing basic ray tracing, the difficulty comes when trying to ray trace reflections bouncing off of surfaces that are angled awkwardly horizontally and vertically at the same time, for example:

You have a speaker with a 30 degree toe in which disperses out to 80 degrees which then hits a window angled at 30 degrees to the speaker as well as tilting 16 degrees vertically.

I know the same principle applies as you demonstrated in your video, the only difference is I feel is the confusion of actually trying to get my head round it and drawing it!

Thanks man! I messed up and hit the letter M after I typed in the 40 degree layer but oh well!

Next on my list is a drum recording and editing series.
