my Controll Room Project
Hello everyone. I hope I have done all the right steps to write here. If I'm wrong, I ask for forgiveness. English is not my language and I have some difficulties. I'm building my control room after reading a lot on this forum. I love your projects. I tried to develop one, following the advice written for others. I'd like your impression on this.
The measures of the c.r are of 4.7 meters of length. 3.7 width and 2.7 height. This with completely empty room.
the monitors will be on the console or on the stands. I can not have wall mounting.
I would like to add 2 bass trap in front, an absorbent panel of 10cm between them. The side parts with absorbent panels, or slot resonator as in image. The back wall with the hooks (I read all the posts by sayers and soundman2020 for this). ceiling I thought of only putting clouds. I could still change everything. if someone said I can do better

I cannot comment on the technical stuff since I'm just learning this myself. It looks very interesting though. Are you planning on using the standard materials for everything?

What do you mean by standard material? Each part of the project has specific materials. you can find everything by reading on this forum.

Re: my Controll Room Project
Hi Stuart. It is a pleasure! I read the regulations again and changed some things in the profile. am i ok now?
I add an image of the empty room.
what do you think about this project? . Is it right to use angled slots? if I do not have monitors in the wall

Re: my Controll Room Project
Hi, I'm still working on the project. but I have many doubts. Is the idea for the back wall good? I was thinking of this design to better control the low frequencies. I'm afraid of taking away a lot of space for nothing. Any opinion?
PS: no sound insulation is in the project. my goal is only acoustic treatment

As long as you do ray tracing and none of the hard surfaces reflect sound into your head area.Is it right to use angled slots? if I do not have monitors in the wall
How far away is your head from the front of the diffuser? Diffusers are great as long as you are okay with everyone except you experiencing lobing and as long as you're far enough away from it to avoid being in the lobing area as well. Your hanger layout looks good other than the fact that it will be pretty hard to get the angles lined up correctly. I would suggest straightening the corner ones and making them center section deeper. Is the idea for the back wall good?

Re: my Controll Room Project
Hi Gregwor !!! I have about 3 meters between me and the diffuser. The hangers start at 60 cm and go down to 30 cm. In front and behind them I thought of putting 5 cm of rock wool. do you think it's a good idea?
can I use the hangers in the corners parallel to the wall?
Greetings from Italy !!!

That's the very minimum distance you can be. Check your design cut off frequency to make sure you are at least 3 full wavelengths away from from it. Tune it as necessary.I have about 3 meters between me and the diffuser.
60cm is great. I would raise that 30cm closer to 60cm if I were you. Your diffuser can be sunk into that in order to keep you >3m away from it.The hangers start at 60 cm and go down to 30 cm. In front and behind them I thought of putting 5 cm of rock wool. do you think it's a good idea?
You should line the walls, floor and ceiling with at least 5cm of insulation.
Sorry, I'm not sure where you are referring to. However, you can use hangers in any corner. They work better with size (like all treatment devices), so if you can't make them large, it might be better to superchunk your corner.can I use the hangers in the corners parallel to the wall?

I was wrong. I put an image with the correct dimensions of all the hangers. what do you think about it ? Should I prefer a superchunk?60cm is great. I would raise that 30cm closer to 60cm if I were you. Your diffuser can be sunk into that in order to keep you >3m away from it.
this will be done! You should line the walls, floor and ceiling with at least 5cm of insulation.
The hangers as in the first drawing, or better angled?Sorry, I'm not sure where you are referring to. However, you can use hangers in any corner.
thank you so much for the interest !!!

First drawing version is how I'd do it.The hangers as in the first drawing, or better angled?

Either way will work, but the second method will be more complicated to build, with all those different angles. The first is much simpler, as they are all parallel.First drawing version is how I'd do it.

Great Sketchupping skills.... I'm jealous.
I have always been skeptical as to Diffusors behind or above the listener. Typically they are small, HF only really, and we don't hear HF behind us, nor above to a lesser extent.
I would recommend covering large areas of absorbent traps with laths. Up to say 70% of the area. This will make your room comfortably live but not interfere with the speaker to ear response.
I also wonder if simple fibre insulation would perform better than hangers? I am quite sure they 'work well' but haven't seen test or theory suggesting that they work better.
A simple frame filled with fibre would surely be cheaper and easier to build.
The image suggests that the Front Wall is treated. Is it? I am doubtful of any benefit to that. https://realtraps.com/art_front-wall.htm
Apologies if I appear negative, but most of my work is involved in getting the best performance for the least effort and money.

done. This is the executive design. I have about 2 cm in front of and behind the hangers, is it ok?Soundman2020 wrote: Either way will work, but the second method will be more complicated to build, with all those different angles. The first is much simpler, as they are all parallel.

I did a drawing with a sequence mls. did you think so?I would recommend covering large areas of absorbent traps with laths. Up to say 70% of the area. This will make your room comfortably live but not interfere with the speaker to ear response.
.I have read about your measurements on another post. and I agree with you. but, the front wall is like in the drawing. There's a door. closed with a panel. I put hangers there. I made a drawing to explain better. what treatment would you recommend here? The image suggests that the Front Wall is treated. Is it? I am doubtful of any benefit to that.
