Design tips for a very small mobile studio

Hello! My name is Molle. I am a producer and sound design student living in the country side of southern Sweden, in the process of building a so called tiny house on wheels which will be my permanent housing and sound studio space. Mainly for production, and also some semi professional sound engineering

I am located in Vitaby, Sweden

I am in the initial building process of the house itself. The floorplan is pretty much done. I know it is not ideal acoustically, and I am planning to optimize this space as well possible

I am using only a pair of ADAM A5X. Never play too loud while mixing and will have no worries with disturbing anyone else regardless

Materials of the construction is wood. Massive wooden wall panels, ceiling and floor. Also considering cork

This is so far in the speculation and my meaturements are not completely calculated

However, the whole interior is 2X4m and the studio table has a loft bed above, making it 1,6m tall in this area and about 2,5m tall in the rest of the space. With a vaulted ceiling

This is quite a low budget project, and I am looking exclusively for DIY built treatments with very eco-friendly materials only. This includes everything. I am also open to the concept of reclaiming materials, if they are fully environmentally friendly. No mineral wool for example

- Question:

What can I keep into consideration while doing this build to optimize the acoustic environment? (I know this is not an easy one)

That's a REALLY small space: it will be very difficult to get good acoustic response in there. It is possible, but not easy...

Like Stewart said, that is a very small space, and adding in the living areas like a bed and closet, sink, etc... just makes it even more tiny.

Are you going to try to record instruments in there?

You might try to rethink what you want to do with the space. If you were to approach it as more of an edit suite rather than a fully finish control or studio space, it might meet your expectations better.

There are some studios built into very small spaces. John and a few others have built them into shipping containers as small as 8'x20' exterior dimensions. And there are a number of mobil production studios built into vans and small trucks for mobile event work that could provide some inspiration for the studio side.

But trying to include more than just a couch to take a nap on is going to be difficult at best, I think.

Do you perhaps have any links or information on the projects mentioned that you would like to share?

I am mainly involved in electronic productions and editing, as well as recording vocals (with a screen) and single instruments. My main concern is the ability to mix as well as possible in this space

This is going to be my permanent residence and home for the future. The features included in this little house are so that I will be living as comfortably as possible within this limited amount of space. I am interested in just making it sound as good as possible, considering the circumstances, thank you.

As Justice said: That space is too small to attempt to make it multi-purpose. Concentrate on just doing one thing with it. If you try to make it both a living space and also a studio, it will fail at both. Uncomfortable to live in, lousy to track in, and lousy to mix in.

Also, please check the rules for posting once again: you filed your location yes, but there's something important you are missing still. Its about posting photos on the forum... You probably won't get many responses here, until you abide by the rules.

Yes, this is a very, very small space indeed. This space is not large, so to speak

It is an extremely difficult task making this a great sounding acoustic environment

I've been meaning to send John a note about it, but those two links on his website appear to be broken for some time. Or the pages aren't there any more.

I just get a 404 error every time I try to go to them.
