Pink Sonobatts stopped in Australia Pink Partition the same

Find out where to get building materials in your local area. If you find a good outlet post it and others will be able to access it through the search engine.

Pink Sonobatts stopped in Australia Pink Partition the same

Post by bencarter »

Hi anyone looking for inner leaf or bass trap insulation in Australia,

For anyone in Australia chasing Pink Sonobatts (32kg/m3 glasswool) then they appear to have been discontinued by Fletcher Insulation.

Fletcher still make Pink Partition Insulation batts http://insulation.com.au/product/pink-p ... insulation that are a semi rigid glass wool (fibreglass) batt that comes in 32kgm3 density along with lighter densities too. The Pink Partition Insulation batts are marketed as a commercial insulation whereas the Sonobatts were marketed as a residential product.

I talked to Fletcher insulation today and they said that Sonobatts and Partition Insulation are essentially the same product except that the Partition batts are 1200mm long and are made in 600mm and 450mm widths. These widths are apparently considered to be more commercially friendly widths. I believe the Sonobatt used to be around 430mm and 580mm wide and 1160mm tall and thus aligned more to residential stud spacings.

The Partition batts are available in 50, 75, 90 or 100mm thicknesses.

These guys seem to have quite reasonable prices and are currently offering free delivery in major cities here in Australia: https://www.pricewiseinsulation.com.au/ ... insulation

The old Sonobatts have been replaced by a batt called Soundbreak and these have a nominal density of 24-26kg/m3: http://insulation.com.au/product/pink-soundbreak

I hope the above information is useful.

Cheers,
Ben
