Hey guys
In my previous post here I opted the possibility to not fully isolate my control room from my tracking room.
I understand that to isolate to the outside world I need a box in a box design, mass and airteightness. But I was wondering if I really need that kind of isolation between the control and tracking room. Below are designs for both possiblities.
Obviously the added isolation of a double leaf between the two room has the advantage of not having as much interference from the actual source while soundchecking then with the single leaf. But I see a lot of advantages of the single leaf (with door) in the second design. There would still be some isolation as I would build the door from solid materials (glass and hardwood) and make it airteight. I'll mostly track my own band so in that case it will be handy to get easily to the tracking room. When mixing I could open the doors in the back wall and have almost no reflections from that wall. That should be a good thing right? Also, if I ever need to sell the property it would leave a more easily convertable room...
It would be nice to have some of you give your opinion on this. If you have any experience with both sides?
Kind regards, Thomas
