Hello all,
long time reader, first time poster. So I've finally decided to bite the bullet and build a mix room in a spare bedroom at home to allow me to work from home. I presently do mixing and live work. I am based in Kingston, Jamaica and even though we are expecting rains from a nearby hurricane, I'm in the process of finalizing my studio design so I can get to building as soon there after as possible. The room is presently a concrete room that will be modified to allow for the dimensions decided on. There is a little flexibility based on the fact I'm planning to use drywall to complete the room.
Attached is the sketchup of what i conceptualized as the finished space. The treatments are just placed for drawing purposes but i plan to mount oc703 in the four corners and mount 4" thick panels on the walls with at least 2" air gaps.
The dimension of the room is Height 7', Width 7'9", Length 9'9".
to arrive at those dimensions I will be dry walling both side walls and also the ceiling to bring it into ratio 1:1.14:1.29
I am not concerned with isolation as my neighbours are some distance away and the concrete should help.
The room is currently configure in an L which is why to complete the rectangle i have dry-walled the left wall in and placed a door.
Also been playing with the idea of a leaky wall or door on the bathroom to use that space as a "bass trap" any suggestions would be appreciated.
I am seeking advice as to whether this design can be improved upon or how best to go about bringing it to life.
After any and all information is gathered and build is finalized I plan to do a build diary of the space and plan to share the information gained with persons with similar challenges in space and design.

Hi Rhys, and welcome!
The way you show it right now, you have your speakers firing along the sorter axis, which is never a good idea, but due to the problem with symmetry you don't really have a choice. But wiping out the bathroom and making the room longer would solve that problem, and give you a much better at at having decent acoustics.
In addition to the above, get your speakers off the desk and put them on stands behind the desk. Heavy stands. Very heavy. Also correct the location of your speakers: they should be 26" from the side walls, and therefore they will be 46" apart. They should also be tight up against the front wall, except for a gap of 4" where you will need a broadband absorber that is 4" thick.

Is there any chance you can eliminate the bathroom completely, remove the wall, and make the room 14'3" long? That would be a much better option. The dimension of the room is Height 7', Width 7'9", Length 9'9".
to arrive at those dimensions I will be dry walling both side walls and also the ceiling to bring it into ratio 1:1.14:1.29

Re: New Studio build in spare bedroom
The speakers are firing down the longest axis of the room. Unfortunately I am unable to remove the bathroom as the original construction is concrete and as such would make the project out of my budget right now maybe at some point in the future i may be able afford that level of reconstruction.
