Hi all, I must say this forum is quite something, after digging about online for years and always trying to learn more this site taught me more in 1 day!
Heres my deal, just purchased new house in the UK, a very large house (12 Bed) Its allowing us to do all the things we have wanted to and then some. I get one of the rooms to turn into my personal (but maybe in the future rent out) studio. I produce electronic music (House mostly 120bpm, big kick drums, lots of percussion) I have included a basic diagram (crude I know)
The room dimensions - W4.75m x L6.78m x H4.0m
Additions to room :
WC (Stud partition with door, tiled inside with WC and sink)
Radiator (approx L2.5m) (can be moved elsewhere in room if needs be or totally)
Double glazed bay surround bay window
The floor is 100yr old oak parquet, extremely solid
All bricks and mortar with lath & plastered walls, windowed wall and side wall are external
My monitors are the Genelec 8030a with the 7050a sub and a pair of Rogers JR149 powered from an old Teac integrated amp (works well)
I do not need super loud volume, the house is fully detached but I personally don't like producing super loud
I have an Argosy workstation desk along with the usual rack outboard integrated into, I also have 3-4 synths that I will probably mount to a wall.
Mac Pro with a few screens, again all integrated in the Argosy unit.
The room is empty and I can do what ever I want to it, I am more than capable of doing most of the work myself so labour costs will be low, I also want it to be a feature, I adore the house and its styling but wouldn't mind bring this up to something sleek and modern, I have thought about installing a dropped ceiling and trying to incorporate an acoustic design into that so its functional as well as design wise pleasant to look at.
The door to the room can also be changed if needs be, again its 100years old and heavy so maybe it can be treated and stay put.
The look of this build is really important to me as I'll be spending most of my time in there, I would love to use wood as much as possible in there, I thought about panelling the walls, as I said anything is up for discussion and I'm open to all thoughts on it. I also thought about being creative with the WC and maybe dampening that room to use for voice over/vocals possibly (would be used as a WC or for vocals once in a blue moon, I have another WC 20ft away in the hall!)
A final thought is I know its a large room and TBH overkill for what I'll be doing, so one thought was to put up a partition in the middle of the room and split into 2 if too big too treat without blowing a ton of money, if I did this I would potentially have a study on the other side, I would prefer to use glass and wood if I were to do this once again to make a feature of it.
Budget I would like to keep under 10K (Sterling)
Please let me know if further information is needed.
Kind Regards
Richard
