Hello everyone, I hope everything is going well!!
We (me and a friend) would like to convert a basement in a rehearsal room so we no longer need to move to play together.
Our goal is to make it sounds good and clear without the usual problems of an untreated room, actually the room sounds quite boomy and out of control and it's easy to get tired after a while playing in there. Also, we would like to build things that can be moved/removed in the future so, just in case we need it, we can move to another room.
The neighbourhood is not a problem so we are just looking to treat the room acoustically.
About the room:
in the sketchup attached you can see the "not so usual" shape of the room.
We removed everything we could remove leaving a desk, a radiator and a bookcase (without books so we can fill it up with wool ) over a hard concrete floor covered with tiles. There are two doors and a window as well as another window that is basically a big portion of a wall made of glass but it's there just to let the sun come in and we can cover it with acoustic panels.
Currently the space where we are going to place the instruments measures approximately 400cm (W) 485cm (L) 275cm (H) while the remaining space (where we placed the desk) 167cm (W) 366cm (L) 265 (H)
Budget:
we will build everything by ourselves to spend the least, we don't have a specific budget but we are looking for the cheapest solution.
My idea is to cover the majority of the surfaces with bass traps, clouds and superchunks on the angles leaving the floor as it is.
The panels will be made of 45kg/m3 thick rockwool or fiberglass covered with thin plastic and brethable fabric, supported by wood frames.
Questions:
I think the density is different between rockwool and fiberglass, am I right or if I'll buy 45kg/m3 rockwool it will have the same density of fiberglass?
Roughly how much of the walls should be designed to be absorbent and how much reflective? I know that too much bass traps could lead to a dark sounding/lifeless room but I'm not sure about the right (if any) percentage of the room assigned to absorb bass/mid frequencies or reflect/diffuse.
If you can help me with some advice I will try to design everything in sketchup and post it here
Thank you a lot and have a nice day!

Re: Rehearsal room acoustic treatment!
Hello!
I was thinking about something like this, basically there are several bass traps around the room and clouds are needed above the drum, some naked walls and floor will be reflective.
My previous questions still remain, I'm not quite sure about the density and thickness of the rockwool vs fiberglass and I don't know if my ""design"" could be effective or a waste of time
Here are some pictures and the sketchup, thank you.
