DIY Diffractal Diffusors
For all of you who are interested here some pictures from my DIY Diffractal Diffusors which i built as long as im stuck with the ground layout of the studio...
I dont want to promote this idea as mine or sell it commercially because i think the company RGP Diffusors has the patent for this stuff...
I just calculated my own 1-dimensional QRD Diffractal for my needs
i think (i dont know and didnt measure it) they are diffusive from 500Hz to 16kHz
btw: these nice milled mdf boards with the N7 matrix in it are made by the carpenter and i paid around 250 € for 50 meters. this is enough for 6 diffusors...
not more to say... i dont have very detailed pictures because i wasn´t planning to do open a new thread about it but now i do...
i hope you guys like it and maybe its helpful... if u need some instructions for your DIY diffractal just ask
Andi

Re: DIY Diffractal Diffusors
i´ll do that... when i find some time i could draw a sketchup model for this for those who wanna build their own... cuz its fun
of yourse mdf is not the most beautiful material in the world, but when its spot-lighted and mounted between fabric-covered walls it´ll be dope...
i got to build 2 more... i think that i document that more detailed from now on...
By the way: its a female carpenter

Re: DIY Diffractal Diffusors
yes it is... and its still a mystery how she could mill all these panels with a 1-bladed mill only and charge me only 250 euros...
that looks like it needs hours and hours
i think she miscalculated her work a bit

Re: DIY Diffractal Diffusors
Hi hansaffe,
Nice job on those diffractals. Can I ask: what is the width of those fins? Looks about 2-3mm by eye. I'm about to try and have some milled as an experiment but not sure how thin I can go without them breaking off with the torque.
Cheers,
Stewart
